dabei viele unschöne, längst begraben geglaubte Dinge wieder ans Tageslicht - das ist der geradezu klassische Plot des vorliegenden Romans - des fünften der Paul Whelan-Reihe. Autor Michael Raleigh wandelt auf den Spuren großer Vorbilder. Vor allem Ross Macdonalds Lew Archer kommt einem in den Sinn, dessen "Spezialität" es war, uralte Familientragödien aufzudecken. Doch Macdonald ist tiefgründiger, und während Archer trotz aller zur Schau gestellten zynischen Abgeklärtheit bei jedem Fall an Leib und Seele litt, ist Paul Whelan ein Privatdetektiv des späten 20. Jahrhunderts, der die Schlechtigkeit der Welt voraussetzt und mit dieser Haltung ganz gut fährt. Was ...
